Human Resources Director

I’m retiring at the end of the year, which means Royal Food Service is looking for our next HR Director. And this is not one of those HR jobs where you sit on the sidelines. You’ll be in the business. Part of the decisions. Helping leaders think through the hard stuff, building better processes, solving problems before they become bigger problems, and shaping what HR looks like as the company continues to grow. Royal is growing, our footprint is expanding, and it’s an exciting time to be part of what comes next. Our business moves fast, our workforce is diverse, and HR touches virtually every part of the operation. This role leads the HR function across multiple locations and works closely with senior leadership on everything from workforce strategy and organizational growth to employee relations, compensation, benefits, compliance and leadership development.

This placement is closer to my heart than any I’ve ever been involved with. I want to leave this role in the hands of an experienced HR leader who can step in with confidence, earn the trust of our leaders and employees, and continue building on what is already here.

The right person will bring:

• 15+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with substantial experience serving as the senior HR leader — or very close to it — within an organization
• Strong employee relations and employment law knowledge
• Experience advising executives and senior operational leaders
• Broad HR experience across talent, compensation, benefits, compliance, performance management and organizational development
• The judgment and experience to navigate complicated situations where the right answer isn’t always obvious
• The ability to move comfortably from strategic planning to a real employee issue that needs an answer today
• A practical, approachable leadership style and the confidence to respectfully challenge the room when HR needs to challenge the room

You don’t need to come from the food industry. But you do need to understand how to support an operational business where people, service, safety and execution matter every day. We need someone experienced, practical, curious, steady under pressure — and comfortable with the fact that no two days are ever quite the same. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who sees HR as part of the business, not a department sitting beside it.
