Project Accountant

The company’s reputation is built on reliability, technical expertise, and consistent project performance. The Role We’re looking for a detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our accounting team. You’ll report directly to the CFO and handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, 401(k) processing, vendor relations, job cost accounting and support for the year-end audit. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position, in the office five days a week. Responsibilities Process vendor invoices, utility bills and contract requisitions for payment, on time and accurately Code invoices to the right job cost and general ledger accounts Print, match and mail weekly checks Reconcile vendor statements and follow up on outstanding balances Respond to vendor questions Manage accounts receivable, including recording payments Process payroll accurately and on schedule, including certified payroll for prevailing wage projects Process 401(k) contributions and loan deductions, with the payroll Assist with monthly financial processing Assist with the year-end audit, including preparing audit workpapers, schedules and supporting documentation Collect and process paperwork from field personnel Prepare sales tax exemption forms for vendors Help with special projects and other duties as needed Qualifications Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a closely related field At least 1 year of accounts payable experience Solid understanding of general accounting principles, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with project managers, site staff, and vendors Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a project environment Strong research, problem-solving and data analysis skills Able to handle several tasks at once and work well on a team Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Experience in the construction or engineering industry is highly beneficial Familiarity with public-works projects and contracts is a plus Experience with Sage Construction software is a plus Salary: $65,000 – $80,000 per year, based on experience, plus benefits Health and vision insurance Paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays 401(k) with 10% company match Healthy work-life balance with a consistent 40-hour week #J-18808-Ljbffr G&R Construction Inc.
