RN Nurse

The Night Nurse (LPN or RN) provides comprehensive nursing care during the night shift, ensuring the well-being and safety of residents. This role involves administering medications, performing treatments, monitoring resident conditions, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with physicians and nursing staff. The Night Nurse also assumes charge nurse responsibilities as needed and supervises Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to deliver high-quality patient care. Responsibilities:

• Observe and report symptoms and conditions of residents.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Count narcotics and maintain accurate records.
• Maintain documentation reflecting resident condition, medication, treatments, and progress.
• Transcribe physician written and telephone orders.
• Place drug orders and assist with nursing history, assessment, MDS, and care plans.
• Assist in orientation and supervision of nursing staff.
• Perform direct resident care as necessary.
• Participate in ongoing in-service education.
• Assume Charge Nurse responsibilities when necessary.
• Prepare and coordinate CNA assignments.
• Communicate with physicians, book tests, labs, x-rays, and medical appointments.
• Assist physicians during rounds and prepare charts for signatures.
• Check meal trays for accuracy and supervise CNAs directly.
• Perform resident admissions and discharges.
• Notify physicians, nurse practitioners, and family members of changes in resident status.
• Update care plans and complete nursing notes and documentation.

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of Massachusetts.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current CPR/AED certification.
• Ability to recognize changes in resident condition and take appropriate action.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for up to 4 hours, bend, squat, kneel, walk, and reach up to 4.5 feet.

• Experience in nursing care within long-term care or similar environments.
• Previous experience supervising nursing staff or CNAs.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation systems.

• Night shift hours from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Ability to assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed.
• Must comply with facility policies and recognized nursing practices.
• Physical and mental ability to cope with job stress and demands.

• Scheduled night shift from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Shift assignments and coverage as determined by unit management.
