Description of Work Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing journey level work in the areas of Heating/Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Hot Water Supply, Plumbing, and Food Service Equipment. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: - Performing special repairs and assignments that are received by work orders from authorized personnel. - Identifying the cause of a problem; determining materials and tools needed and method of repair; and carrying out repair procedures independently on most jobs. - Performing scheduled maintenance functions as required and outlined in the preventative maintenance plans. - Training and/or supervising the work of offender helpers. Necessary Special Qualifications: Requires current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations part 82, subpart F. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. About the Division of Institutions: The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel. About Richmond Correctional Institution: Richmond Correctional Institution is located in Hoffman, North Carolina and houses up to 420 male offenders in a medium custody facility.
