Preventive Maintenance Technician - Evening Shift | The River Inn Hotel | Washington, DC Job Category : Engineering/Maintenance Requisition Number : PREVE019139 Full-Time On-site Locations Washington, DC 20037, USA Description We're looking for a Preventive Maintenance Technician for the evening shift with a background in hospitality who’s ready to join a growing Engineer Team. As our next Engineer, we want you to look after this hotel as if it were your home. You will ensure broken things get fixed and, more importantly, proactively seek solutions and create a detailed program to prevent future issues. This includes interior and exterior building maintenance. This position is non-exempt and reports to the Area Director of Engineering. The compensation range for this position is $21 - $23 per hour. What You Will Be Doing Display basic knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge in the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, energy conservation, and/or general building. Read and understand MEPs (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) blueprints. Respond to guest repair requests and communicate with guests to resolve maintenance issues. Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement, and thorough cleanup of the repair area. Test, troubleshoot, and perform basic repair on equipment and components including plumbing, electrical switches and outlets, lamps, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, and other guestroom items. Visually inspect tools and equipment, carry equipment, and locate and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and building utilities. Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed. Communicate each day’s activities and problems to other shifts using approved communication programs and standards. Organize and prioritize daily tasks to maximize efficiency, workflow, and guest satisfaction. Welcome and acknowledge guests according to company standards, anticipate and address service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Adhere to quality expectations and standards. Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and properly store flammable materials. During inclement weather, treat outdoor surfaces to ensure guest and colleague safety. What We’re Looking For 1+ year preventative maintenance preferred. Ideally, you are familiar with industry trends and best practices. Strong skill set in preventative maintenance, painting, and carpentry. Availability for the evening shift is required. You must be willing to work from 2:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. and be open to working on weekdays and/or weekends. Ability to move up and down stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders; lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and with assistance for heavier tasks. Must be able to twist, pull, and stoop. Speak with others using clear and professional language. Display basic computer skills including inputting air handler schedules and making temperature changes.
