School History St. Joseph Catholic School was founded in 1955 and continues to thrive today. St. Joe's currently offers preschool (3 & 4 year old) through 6th grade classes, and has a current enrollment of 185 students, with a goal of 201 students for the 2025-26 school year. SJCS offers multiple academic programs including Religion, Bilingual Pre-k, Multi-lingual Spanish/English Program, Music, P.E., and S.T.R.E.A.M, and multiple before and after school enrichment opportunities such as Folkloric Dance, Band, Choir, Robotics, Math is Cool, & Baking Club.

Middle School Expansion St. Joseph Catholic School is expanding its curriculum to include middle school. Sixth grade was established in 2024-25, 7th grade was established in 2025-26, and 8th grade will be added in 2026-27, to complete the program.

Job Description St. Joseph School is looking to hire a certified middle school ELA/ Social Studies teacher as the school continues its expansion into middle school. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated educator who is excited at the prospect of working as an integral member of the middle school development team. This will require capacity for flexibility and creative thinking.

Preferred candidates will have 6th-8th grade level certification and experience teaching ELA and social studies, though all interested parties are invited to apply.

The school is looking for teachers who utilize current, effective, research-proven strategies to plan, teach, monitor progress and report performance, who use data to drive instructional decisions to increase academic outcomes in all students, and who employ culturally sensitive, responsive, and sustaining practices. The school is seeking a teacher that will adhere to rigorous academic standards and expectations, holding the bar high for all students.

The applicant must respect and be willing to teach the tenets of the Catholic faith and be willing to follow all Diocese of Yakima and St. Joseph Catholic School policies and procedures, and demonstrate commitment to providing and maintaining a welcoming, safe, loving, and nurturing environment, consistent with Gospel values.

Qualification/Skills

• Hold a current, valid K-8 or other qualifying Washington State teaching credential/certification or middle school teaching credential-credentials to teach Washington State History or willingness to acquire this credential is desired-be an active practicing Catholic
• Be willing to responsibly teach the Catholic Faith and Gospel Values
• Commit to actively applying culturally sensitive, responsive, and inclusive teaching practices
• Exhibit capacity for professional, respectful, effective communication skills, forming collaborative relationships with colleagues and families
• Have a high level of self-efficacy and adhere to deadlines and responsibilities
• Be able to employ effective teaching strategies to meet the needs of all students and effectively employ data to measure student growth
• Be proficient with the use of modern educational technologies
• Have the ability to successfully employ effective classroom management practices
• Be a flexible and collaborative team player with a growth mindset
• Have a positive attitude

Salary Range $46,000-$70,000/Yr. - depending on education and experience
