Director of Private Credit Origination & Referral Partnerships

$150,000–$200,000 Base Salary | $400,000–$600,000 Total Annual Earning Potential

Our client, a growing alternative-financing company, is seeking a Director of Strategic Partnerships & Private Credit Origination to expand its professional referral network and generate lower-middle-market financing opportunities, typically ranging from $1M–$25M .

This is a relationship-driven origination role focused on building and leveraging relationships with professional referral partners who can provide consistent, repeat deal flow. The ideal candidate will bring an established network of relationships across commercial finance and the lower-middle market, including banks, CPAs, attorneys, investment bankers, M&A advisors, financial advisors, private equity firms, family offices, independent sponsors, and other professional intermediaries. Candidates may come from private credit, commercial finance, ABL, factoring, SBA lending, equipment finance, commercial banking, M&A/advisory, investment banking, or other related areas.

Experienced underwriters, credit professionals, and portfolio managers are also encouraged to apply if they have developed a strong external referral network and are interested in moving into a relationship-driven origination role.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain productive relationships with banks, CPAs, attorneys, M&A advisors, investment bankers, private equity firms, family offices, independent sponsors, financial advisors, and other professional referral sources.

• Generate qualified $1M–$25M lower-middle-market financing opportunities through an existing professional network.

• Build and expand referral channels capable of producing consistent and repeatable deal flow.

• Re-engage existing professional relationships and develop new strategic referral partnerships.

• Present the company's alternative-financing solutions to referral partners and prospective borrowers.

• Identify financing opportunities and determine whether they align with the company's credit profile and available solutions.

• Manage opportunities from initial introduction and qualification through underwriting, structuring, and closing.

• Work closely with credit, underwriting, and leadership teams to develop appropriate financing structures for prospective borrowers.

• Maintain consistent communication with referral partners throughout the financing process.

• Attend industry conferences, networking events, and professional gatherings to expand the company's referral network.

• Independently manage and grow a book of referral relationships and originated opportunities.

• Proven experience in business development, origination, strategic partnerships, relationship management, underwriting, credit, or portfolio management within commercial finance or an adjacent financial-services field.

• Background in private credit, ABL, factoring, commercial finance, SBA lending, equipment finance, commercial banking, M&A/advisory, investment banking, or a related area .

• Established relationships with professional referral sources such as banks, CPAs, attorneys, investment bankers, M&A advisors, financial advisors, private equity firms, family offices, independent sponsors, or other financial intermediaries.

• Demonstrated ability to generate or influence repeat deal flow through professional relationships .

• Experience working with lower-middle-market companies and financing transactions, ideally within the $1M–$25M range .

• Strong understanding of commercial credit, financing structures, and the needs of lower-middle-market businesses.

• Ability to identify, qualify, and communicate financing opportunities effectively.

• Strong relationship-building, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

• Self-motivated and comfortable independently developing and managing a book of business.
