Position Overview

We are seeking entry-level Call Center / Customer Service Specialists to join a specialty pharmacy patient services team in Pittsburgh, PA. This role involves managing inbound and outbound communications, assisting patients with insurance and billing questions, resolving complex insurance rejections, and coordinating prior authorizations and other medication access services.

The ideal candidate has strong communication and customer service skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent patient support while handling confidential health information.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle inbound and outbound calls to assist patients, customers, providers, and other healthcare contacts.
• Respond to inquiries about products, services, insurance coverage, billing, and patient account concerns.
• Resolve customer service and billing complaints by researching issues and coordinating appropriate adjustments or solutions.
• Investigate insurance claim rejections and work to resolve coverage and billing discrepancies.
• Coordinate authorization processes, including prior authorizations, appeals, and medical tier exceptions.
• Contact patients and providers regarding claim investigation results, authorization status, and required follow-up.
• Assist patients with enrollment in financial assistance programs to help reduce medication costs and improve access to therapy.
• Serve as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and internal specialty pharmacy teams.
• Refer unresolved issues to the appropriate departments for further investigation and resolution.
• Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, inquiries, complaints, case updates, and actions taken.
• Protect confidential patient information and comply with applicable privacy and security requirements.
• Meet established expectations for productivity, accuracy, attendance, and customer service.

Qualifications

• Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Customer service, call center, healthcare, pharmacy, insurance, or patient services experience is beneficial.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and navigate computer systems while assisting callers.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle sensitive information professionally and maintain confidentiality.
• Willingness to work onsite in Pittsburgh, PA, with varying schedules between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
• Ability to complete the required onboarding process promptly, including background check and drug screening.

Important Hiring Information

• Training begins November 16, 2026. Candidates must be prepared to start on this date.
• The next anticipated training session after November is not until January.
• Offers will be made based on resume review, so relevant experience should be clearly presented.

• A background check and drug screen are required.
• Drug screening is required because the position is onsite at a specialty pharmacy.
• This is a safety-sensitive position with access to protected health information (PHI).
• Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day will be observed as unpaid holidays.
