Controller

Hunter Recruiting is seeking a highly accomplished Controller to plan and direct the accounting operations of the company. This is an internal role and a member of Hunter's leadership team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, diligent, tactful, and organized. Required Qualifications Excellent management and supervisory skills. Demonstrates a high sense of urgency and healthy appetite for accuracy. Adaptable to frequent change and versatility of work. Strong technological aptitude. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implement and continually monitor a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk. Oversee the production of periodic financial reports; ensure that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. Recommend benchmarks that measure the company’s performance. Direct and monitor the activities and performance of the workers' compensation program to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Produce the annual budget/forecasts and report significant budget differences to management. Provide financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations, in collaboration with COO. Work with external vendors and provide needed information for audits. Monitor retirement plans and review annual 5500s. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements. Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Oversee Bookkeepers, Accounting Assistants, Accounting Specialists, Senior Accounting Specialists, and Assistant Controller. Oversee HR staff, including HR Manager, Generalist or administrative personnel. Interview, hire and train new staff. Oversee the daily workflow of the department. Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations. Experience and Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree in accounting required. 10+ years of related experience required.
