Employee Health Nurse/CoordinatorThe Employee Health Nurse/Coordinator reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and supports a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace by coordinating employee health program activities and providing clinical employee health services. This role supports occupational health screening, immunization compliance, communicable disease follow-up, exposure management, respiratory protection coordination, employee health record maintenance, pre-employment and ongoing employee health requirements, compliance tracking, occupational health documentation, injury and exposure follow-up, employee education, and coordination with Human Resources, Infection Prevention, Risk Management, department leaders, providers, and external vendors. The role supports compliance with applicable California Department of Public Health, Title 22, Cal/OSHA, OSHA, CDC, CIHQ, Joint Commission, and hospital policy requirements while promoting a safe and healthy workforce.Key Responsibilities (not all inclusive):Coordinates employee health appointments, screenings, immunization clinics, respirator fit testing, onboarding clearances, annual requirements, and other recurring compliance activities.Conducts or coordinates pre-employment, annual, return-to-work, and fit-for-duty health screenings in accordance with organizational policy, applicable California and federal law, and licensure requirements.Administers, documents, or coordinates immunizations, tuberculosis screening, respirator clearance, and other employee health requirements as assigned and permitted by California scope-of-practice requirements.Tracks employee health requirements, including immunizations, tuberculosis testing, respirator fit testing, health screenings, exposure follow-up documentation, and annual compliance items.Evaluates, triages, documents, or coordinates follow-up for employee injuries, illnesses, bloodborne pathogen exposures, communicable disease exposures, and workplace-related health concerns within applicable California scope of practice.Coordinates referrals, follow-up care, medical clearance, return-to-work documentation, and work status communication with treating providers and appropriate internal departments.Maintains accurate and confidential employee health records, logs, dashboards, and compliance reports in accordance with California privacy requirements, occupational health standards, and organizational recordkeeping practices.Communicates pending or overdue employee health requirements to employees, department leaders, and appropriate stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality and limiting disclosure to job-related need-to-know information.Supports workers’ compensation, workplace injury, and exposure processes by gathering documentation, routing information, supporting follow-up, and documenting clinical or administrative actions as appropriate.Prepares reports, rosters, reminders, audit files, and compliance summaries for leadership review, including information needed to support Cal/OSHA, infection prevention, employee health, and internal audit requirements.Coordinates with external vendors, laboratories, clinics, and providers as needed for testing, medical clearance, employee health services, and documentation.Participates in infection prevention, workplace safety, emergency preparedness, injury prevention, and employee wellness initiatives.Educates employees and leaders on occupational health requirements, exposure prevention, wellness practices, workplace injury prevention, and applicable California workplace safety processes.Coordinates or supports workers’ compensation processes, injury reporting, modified duty communication, ergonomic referrals, and follow-up with occupational medicine providers.Provides employee counseling and education regarding occupational health requirements, infection prevention practices, respiratory protection, post-exposure follow-up, and wellness resources.Prepares reports, dashboards, audits, and regulatory readiness documentation related to employee health compliance indicators.Participates in policy review, emergency preparedness activities, accreditation survey readiness, and performance improvement initiatives.Promotes a culture of safety, service excellence, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.Performs other related duties as assigned, consistent with applicable California and federal law, organizational policy, licensure requirements, and certification requirements.Regulatory and Compliance Responsibilities:Supports compliance with California Code of Regulations Title 22 requirements for general acute care hospitals, including employee orientation, infection control education, and ongoing in-service education.Supports the hospital infection prevention and control program by helping reduce transmission risk between patients, healthcare personnel, and the healthcare environment.Supports compliance with Cal/OSHA Title 8 requirements related to bloodborne pathogens, aerosol transmissible diseases, respiratory protection, injury and illness prevention, and occupational exposure recordkeeping.Maintains awareness of applicable CDPH All Facilities Letters, CDC healthcare personnel guidance, Joint Commission standards, CMS Conditions of Participation, and hospital policies affecting employee health operations.Escalates compliance concerns, exposure clusters, communicable disease risks, or employee health trends to appropriate leadership.Minimum Qualifications:Current California Registered Nurse license in good standing required.Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with diploma, associate degree, or BSN (preferred).Current BLS, ACLS, PALS certification from the American Heart Association.NIHSS Stroke/Scale Certification required upon hire.Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience required; experience in employee health, occupational health, infection prevention, emergency department, public health, or acute care hospital nursing preferred.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, databases, HR systems, electronic health records, or employee health tracking platforms.Knowledge of occupational health principles, infection prevention practices, communicable disease management, vaccination requirements, exposure follow-up, and healthcare regulatory standards.Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform essential duties and communicate employee safety concerns.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Strong knowledge of employee health, infection prevention, occupational exposure management, confidentiality, and regulatory documentation practices, preferred.Ability to assess employee health situations, triage exposure events, apply approved protocols, and coordinate timely follow-up.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to educate employees and collaborate with leaders across departments.Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple compliance deadlines.Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and handle sensitive employee health information professionally.Ability to work independently while escalating clinical, operational, or regulatory concerns as appropriate.Ability to interpret and follow established policies, protocols, and California workplace requirements.Ability to work collaboratively with employees, leaders, providers, external vendors, and internal departments.Comfort using electronic health, HR, or compliance tracking systems.Compensation:Competitive compensation is based on experience, education, certifications,
