Field Service Technician

James River Equipment is seeking an experienced Agricultural Field Mechanic to work primarily on site at customer locations, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining large agricultural equipment, including John Deere products. Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, repair, adjust, and maintain various heavy equipment used in agriculture. Utilize problem‑solving resources such as DTAC, technical manuals, and personal expertise for equipment diagnostics. Request and track the procurement of parts through the parts department. Plan and execute the sequence of repairs. Perform engine underhauls, head gasket replacement, rear axle replacement, hydraulic valve and pump service, rock shaft service, and transmission repairs. Prepare accurate inspection and service reports and maintain required records. Follow company policies, government regulations, and safety standards. Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Job Requirements High school diploma or equivalent experience. 3–5+ years of recent experience as a field mechanic working on large ag/farm equipment and diesel engines; strong preference for John Deere experience. Vocation or technical degree, or equivalent work experience or training. Knowledge of service department operations and heavy equipment technology. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
