About the Position

Position Overview

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking an experienced Cardiac Perfusionist to support a high-acuity cardiac program. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing complex cardiac and cardiopulmonary cases, including ECMO and transplant services.

Responsibilities

• Provide perfusion support for complex cardiac procedures, including:
  • CABG
  • Valve procedures
  • Adult congenital cases
  • Aortic dissections and complex aortic procedures
  • Minimally invasive cardiac procedures
  • TAVR and other structural heart procedures
• Provide perfusion support for cardiac, thoracic, and liver transplant procedures.
• Support ECMO services 24/7 , including:
  • Cannulations and decannulations
  • Circuit manipulations
  • CT transports
  • Physical therapy sessions
  • ECMO transports from outside hospitals
• Support mechanical thrombectomies, HIPEC procedures, and other complex cases as needed.
• Provide coverage for lung, heart, and liver transplant cases.
• Operate point-of-care (POC) devices.
• Be prepared to manage cases of varying complexity during days, nights, weekends, and call coverage.
• Participate in a 6-tier call system covering nights and weekends.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of perfusion experience
• At least 1 year of recent experience in a Level I Trauma facility
• Tennessee Clinical Perfusionist License – Required
  • Must have an active TN license on file to be considered
  • This requirement is non-negotiable
• ABCP – American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion certification – Required
• High school diploma or college degree diploma required for CAPS certification
• Experience operating POC devices
• Strong experience with complex cardiac cases and ECMO
• Previous travel experience preferred, but not required
