Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown (6 West PCU)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM | Expected weekend commitment of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block | One holiday required per 13-week contract period

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for adult and geriatric patients in a high-acuity, high-turnover PCU environment with a primary focus on chest pain management, MI rule-in/rule-out, and expedited ER flow
• Perform cardiac monitoring, interpret and manage dysrhythmias, and activate Rapid Response and Code teams as needed
• Administer and manage cardiac drips including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose Dopamine/Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Bumex, and Lasix (no titration required)
• Manage IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen delivery, and non-invasive airway management
• Float within skillset as required; care for occasional post-cath patients and overflow from cardiology and medicine PCU

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia State RN license or active Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Demonstrated competency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and cardiac drip administration
• Candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility are generally considered local and not accepted; exceptions may apply for candidates residing 50–99.9 miles away, who may be considered for one 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior PCU, stepdown, or IMC nursing experience in a high-volume acute care setting
• Experience with remote telemetry monitoring and tele-sitting workflows
• Familiarity with post-cardiac catheterization patient care
