JOB TITLE: Rolling Mill Assistant 

 

SHIFT: 1st (Mon-Thu, 5AM to 3PM) 

2nd (Mon-Thu, 3PM to 1AM) 

LOCATION: Norwell, MA

POSITION SUMMARY: Perform Rolling Mill duties including loading castings, pick red-hot castings off trays with short rake, separate and pass over to rolling mill. Follow documented work instructions to perform each task with a focus on safety.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

• Frequently lifting castings weighing up to 16 lbs. and loading them onto a tray (while in a standing position) during a 10-hour shift
• Pick red-hot castings off trays with short rake, separate and pass over to rolling mill
• Change dies with use of various tools
• Use pliers to grab and pull blank out of press and toss into quench tank on angle
• Frequent bending and twisting
• Constant exposure to hot environment
• Maintain established quality and quantity standards
• Follow prescribed safety precautions, established company and department policies, procedures, rules and regulations 
• Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials and questionable conditions to proper supervision
• Maintain work area(s) and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition
• Maintain daily production and other records as required
• Provide assistance to other team members as requested by team leader
• Perform other related duties as required or directed

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Work under general supervision, proceeds along on regular duties, referring to questionable cases to supervisor or others.

EDUCATION, TRAINING and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or Equivalent Required. At least 3 months experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

TECHNICAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, and/or LICENSES: Awareness of OSHA & Safety standards. Knowledge of lean manufacturing a plus.

REASONING ABILITY: Requires the use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations and processes within the limitations of recognized or standard methods and procedures.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Requires reading, writing, adding, subtracting, decimals, fractions, simple arithmetic that is involved in carrying out work instructions.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS and/or PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Challenging working conditions due to high temperatures and humidity. Countermeasures are in place to maximize work comfort. Continuous mental and visual attention is required due to repetitive work and diversified operations in a high complexity environment. Required to walk, use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls: reach with hands and arms; balance; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job the employee is/or may be exposed dust, dirt, heat, fumes, noise, vibration, water, and oil but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable. Employee is required to wear safety glasses, safety gloves and ear protection as well as other PPE specific to their activities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY (If Applicable): This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

 

1st shift (5am - 3pm), Monday - Thursday
2nd shift (3pm - 1am), Monday - Thursday
40 hours, overtime available
