The team’s focus is on helping to advance the implementation of the strategic Data Engineer vision while also supporting tactical initiatives, in the front and middle office.The Senior to Principal Data Engineer will be one of the thought-leaders on the Data Engineer team to help devise and design the enterprise Data Engineer as well as be part of the development to bring that enterprise Data Engineer to implementation.Responsibilities:Generate, present, and develop ideas for progressing the data environment, such as common frameworks or common methodologies, which the Investment Technology division will then use.Leverage technical curiosity to explore new features in existing tools and technologies as well as explore new methodologies, features and tools that can be adopted by the Investment Technology division.Perform detailed data analysis and validation, share, instruct, and coach the Investment Technology division on data topics such as best practices, design methodologies, and query optimization.Design and build, with the Data Engineer team, the complete re-envisioning of enterprise data model, create master data sources and the key resolution engine as well as the supporting processes to ensure data quality.Organize, liaison, and work with other development teams to onboard applications and processes onto the new Data Engineer, learn and become the subject matter expert on tools and technologies, act as a liaison to the various development teams and other data teams to market and proliferate the Data Engineer doctrines, principles and standards.Define business requirements and specifications and recommend best business practices, help devise and implement pragmatic data governance principles and methodology.Assist with preparation, coordination, and execution of User Acceptance Testing.Qualifications:Deep background in data development and solid understanding of advanced database features and query optimization, undergraduate degree in finance, technology discipline or equivalent experience.
