Senior Systems Engineer Data Center Services

Location: Rocklin, CA 4 5 days onsite



Duration: 6+months

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, implement, and maintain enterprise standards for data center physical infrastructure, including rack design, power distribution, cooling, cabling, labeling, and deployment practices.
  • Engineer and optimize data center capabilities across power capacity, cooling performance, environmental controls, rack utilization, cabling integrity, and deployment readiness.
  • Develop and maintain capacity plans for data center infrastructure and resources.
  • Lead preventive maintenance planning, capacity planning, failover validation, and standards-based implementation activities.
  • Drive operational improvements related to power, cooling, space utilization, and infrastructure efficiency using DCIM, monitoring, and asset management platforms.
  • Lead complex rack layout, hardware installation, cabling, remediation, relocation, and decommissioning activities while following engineering and safety standards.
  • Establish and maintain documentation including rack elevations, cable maps, port assignments, power allocation, implementation records, maintenance procedures, and operational runbooks.
  • Partner with facilities teams on environmental stability, maintenance coordination, HVAC issues, and data center efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate with server, storage, network, security, and production support teams to ensure effective planning and implementation across the technology environment.
  • Provide technical leadership during incidents, infrastructure events, maintenance windows, and root-cause investigations.
  • Coordinate with vendors, review scopes of work, validate implementation quality, and ensure compliance with operational and safety requirements.
  • Evaluate new technologies, tools, and design approaches related to data center operations, monitoring, asset visibility, and environmental performance.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations regarding infrastructure health, operational risks, capacity constraints, and modernization opportunities.
  • Participate in requirements gathering and author technical solution designs.
  • Review system designs and provide feedback on solutions impacting the data center environment.
  • Participate in establishing infrastructure strategies, standards, and best practices.
  • Lead or participate in installation, configuration, major upgrades, and implementation activities.
  • Develop and maintain system procedures, technical documentation, and operational standards.
  • Perform system resource optimization and infrastructure lifecycle management.
  • Implement resource management, monitoring methods, tools, and thresholds.
  • Monitor systems and infrastructure within the assigned domain and support system access and resource administration.
  • Participate in systems management and security compliance activities.
  • Support the resolution of production incidents and infrastructure-related issues.
  • Lead or participate in projects of moderate complexity, including planning, estimation, execution, and delivery.
  • Identify project dependencies, feature/module dependencies, critical paths, and resource requirements.
  • Provide work breakdown planning and estimates and review team estimates when required.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong experience in data center infrastructure engineering and operations .
  • Experience with data center physical infrastructure, including racks, power distribution, cooling, structured cabling, and environmental monitoring.
  • Experience developing and maintaining infrastructure standards, procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with data center capacity planning and resource optimization.
  • Experience leading or participating in hardware installation, configuration, relocation, remediation, and decommissioning activities.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure monitoring, asset management, and DCIM technologies.
  • Experience supporting production incidents, maintenance activities, and root-cause investigations.
  • Strong project planning, estimation, and execution skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with infrastructure, facilities, networking, server, storage, security, operations, and vendor teams.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a hands-on data center environment and follow safety and operational standards.
