Customer Accounts Specialist - Internal Only
Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent; continuous education is a plus
Considerable knowledge of customer service principles, procedures, and best practices.
Working knowledge of all municipal services.
Cashiering and Collections experience utilizing GP with accuracy
Skill in collaborative conflict resolution and customer service excellence.
Considerable knowledge of office technology, thorough knowledge of GP software, and the application to billing, collections, service orders, and accounts maintenance.
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms with internal customers and the public in a tactful and courteous manner, some of whom may be difficult or angry.
Ability to create and maintain effective work relationships with the public, other staff and public officials. Accuracy in the entry of data and compilation of records and reports.
Ability to work accurately with money, checks, data and figures and accurately perform standard mathematical calculations.
Experience with trouble shooting billing problems with customers, field staff, business, residential customers and others
Ability to prepare adjustments for approval based on city ordinance and customer service guidelines, for broken lines, etc.: maintains updated account notes for impacted locations.
Computer experience operating specialized cashiering/ billing software GP, office equipment and software: GIS, InvoiceCloud, Badger Meter and others.
The ability to work in a fast-paced high stress environment with a positive, professional demeanor
Strong interpersonal, verbal, written and telephonic communication skills, with diverse groups of people
The ability to work independently and driven to be solutions oriented, while maintaining personal accountability, policy guidelines and teamwork.
Ability to assist, train and back up other staff as a Utility Customer Service Specialist
