Weekend Afternoon/Evening Hotel Valet Attendant - Marriott Marquis

Job Overview The Guest Service Associate is responsible for providing exceptional hospitality services to guests in an attentive, friendly and efficient manner, including parking, luggage assistance and guest support. Compensation The hourly base pay range for this position is $10 to $13 per hour plus $15 to $17 per hour in tips. Schedule Weekend evening availability is required. Shifts can range from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm, 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm or 5:00 pm to 2:00 am, depending on candidate availability. Responsibilities 25% – Maintain pleasant, friendly, and professional demeanor, acknowledge and greet guests within five feet, use guests’ last names. 25% – Use salutation of the day, welcome guests to the location, practice proper phone etiquette, and post in designated areas when not completing tasks. 10% – Park and retrieve vehicles, assist guests with bell services and luggage storage, open all vehicle and hotel doors for guests. 20% – Assist guests with directions, taxis and reservations, provide information about outlets, meeting rooms and amenities, deliver messages, items and/or guest amenities as requested. 10% – Explain parking rates and retrieval procedures, issue claim checks, maintain ticket information, calculate and collect revenue for vehicles. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED. Licensure: Valid driver’s license. Experience: One month related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge: Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. Skills: Read and write standard English language. Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Write simple correspondence. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests, clients and other employees. Add and subtract three-digit numbers and multiply/divide with tens and hundreds, using units of American money. Understand 24-hour and military time systems. Understand rates applicable to time passed. Operate a manual transmission and perform parallel parking. Work Conditions & Physical Demands Employees are regularly required to talk or hear, sit or stand for extended periods, run, walk, handle objects, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Physical requirements include lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally or up to 50 pounds frequently. Work occurs outdoors for extended periods, with exposure to extreme heat or cold weather. Travel may be up to 5% of time.
