Description of Position


Guards, patrols and monitor's premises to prevent theft, violence and infractions of rules to include vehicular parking, traffic control and overall maintenance of public order. Perform a variety of safety functions to ensure the campus is a safe and secure learning environment for students, staff and visitors. Regular foot patrol of buildings, parking lots and surrounding property is required.

- Report, by phone, any suspicious or criminal activity to Campus Police
- Complete lock up of all buildings at assigned campus
- Report any hazards or safety concerns observed
- Complete daily activity log
- Perform other duties as assigned

This is a non-sworn uniformed position.

- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills are required


- Physical ability is essential

- Must display a willingness to appreciate the differences in individuals

- Must successfully pass a polygraph test

- Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid Arizona driver's license without record of suspension or revocation in any State

- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories
- Regular attendance is an essential job function as it demonstrates dependability towards the performance of job duties

Preferred Skills & Abilities

- Experience in security or criminal justice field
- Three or more years' experience dealing with the public

- Exercise judgment and make decisions as to the appropriate action under pressure in accordance with established rules, regulations, and policies

- Work cooperatively, courteously and professionally with all segments of the public

- Experience in crime prevention

- Familiar with the structure of a post-secondary educational institution

- Red Cross certified in CPR and AED
- Work experience in a community college/higher education environment
