Clinical Dietitian

POSITION SUMMARY The Dietitian will be responsible for inpatient consults. Will act as a resource to the Dietary Manager and dietary staff and will assist with special projects and PI as requested by the Director. Must be able to work well with patients, the hospital staff and medical staff. Must be a Registered Dietitian and hold a current Texas license. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Respond to inpatient dietary consults and related chart documentation. Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to outpatients and out‑patient counseling as requested. Schedule MNT appointments and bill the service through Meditech, ensuring each session is documented. Provide admission with an outpatient schedule, including physician referrals, weekly. In the absence of the Director, and when requested, respond to inpatient dietary consults and related chart documentation. Act as a resource for the Dietary Manager and dietary staff. Participate in special projects as requested. Assist with PI as requested. Provide weekend & holiday Dietitian coverage for the department. Back‑up Registered Dietitian services as needed to cover for vacation/sick leave. PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and clean. Completes annual educational requirements. Wears identification while on duty. Attends appropriate departmental and committee meetings. Takes personal responsibility for own behavior. Shows creativity in addressing issues rather than a defeating attitude. Demonstrates negotiations/conflict resolution skills. Maintains appropriate confidentiality. Accepts accountability for impact of behavior on others. Willingly volunteers to represent the organization in the community as needed. Is punctual, observes work breaks, meal periods, and maintains an acceptable overall attendance record. Demonstrates initiative, including seeking new assignments and assuming additional duties when necessary. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Working knowledge of clinical areas of nutrition practice. Ability to communicate prescribed nutrition therapy to patients. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Required: Graduation from an accredited university with a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition. Preferred: Clinical dietetics experience in an acute care setting. LICENSES & CERTIFICATES Required: ADA credentials of Registered Dietitian (R.D.).
