Registered Respiratory Therapist - Emergency Department, Retiree PRN

Provides assessment, treatment, care, and evaluation for patients of all ages with respiratory insufficiencies.

Responsibilities include performing cardiopulmonary assessments, physical exams, reviewing records, collaborating with healthcare teams, administering medical gases and aerosolized medications, managing ventilators, performing blood gas sampling, assisting with bronchoscopy procedures, responding to medical emergencies, providing patient and family education, serving as a preceptor, and recording care and treatment provided.

Education requirements include graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program, with a bachelor's degree preferred. Certifications required include Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential, Ohio Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License, Florida Department of Health License, Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) credential, Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA), and as applicable by site: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).

Complexity of the role requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision, providing care to all patient populations, ability to work in a stressful environment, and effective communication.

Work experience preferred includes prior experience in critical care, neonatal/pediatric experience, and prior experience performing invasive procedures.

Physical requirements include good manual dexterity, normal hearing and vision, ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, and medium work physical demands.

Personal protective equipment must be followed as standard precautions.
