Our interdisciplinary team works closely with patients and families to improve daily living skills, sensory regulation, and overall independence while supporting emotional and behavioral growth — because at Nexus, we're mending minds.Position SummaryThe Occupational Therapist (OT) provides therapeutic services to children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental, behavioral, and medically complex conditions. The OT evaluates functional abilities, develops individualized treatment plans, and works closely with the interdisciplinary team to improve daily living skills, sensory processing, coordination, and independence.This role requires strong clinical reasoning, flexibility, and the ability to work with patients who may have developmental, behavioral, or emotional regulation challenges.Key ResponsibilitiesEvaluate patients and develop individualized occupational therapy treatment plansProvide therapeutic interventions to improve daily living skills, sensory processing, and functional independenceWork with patients who have developmental disabilities, neurological conditions, or behavioral challengesCollaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, and behavioral teamsEducate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques and home programsDocument evaluations, treatments, and progress in the electronic medical recordUse adaptive equipment and sensory-based interventions to support independenceParticipate in interdisciplinary meetings and care planningMaintain compliance with all regulatory, safety, and documentation standardsPromote a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for all patientsQualificationsCurrent Texas Occupational Therapist license requiredBLS certification requiredDe-escalation training required within 30 days of hireDegree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program requiredExperience with pediatric, neurologic, or developmental populations preferredExperience in inpatient, rehabilitation, or behavioral health settings preferredAbility to work effectively within a multidisciplinary clinical teamCompassionate, patient-centered approach to careComfort working in a structured behavioral environmentOur Core Values: GOPTICAt Nexus, GOPTIC is more than a slogan—it's the foundation of how we care for children and families.Genuine – We act with honesty, integrity, and empathy in all interactions.
