Base Pay $125,000.00 - $170,000.00 / Year Job Category: Architecture and Engineering Employee Type: Regular (E) (FT) Description Forest Lawn is looking for an experienced, California licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) under the Architectural & Engineering Department. The ideal candidate will have experience managing and mentoring office and field staff, be responsible for the quality assurance and quality control of construction staking and record maps, schedule field crews, and occasionally accomplish in‑field surveying. The candidate should also have experience with GIS. What You'll Be Doing Serve as the Surveyor of Record as a Licensed PLS in California to sign and seal surveys, plats, legal descriptions, and easements in compliance with state and local regulations. Manage and mentor staff, overseeing scheduling, quality control, and safety protocols for boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction staking surveys. Operate as a Survey Party Chief, leading survey field crew, operating surveying instruments, collecting data, performing calculations, and maintaining equipment. Lead subdivision mapping process, lot line adjustments, and right‑of‑way dedications, interfacing with city and county agencies to expedite map recording. Oversee the UAV/Drone program (FAA Part 107), including flight planning and execution for aerial photogrammetry and LiDAR scanning. Conduct high‑precision drone mapping and terrestrial laser scanning. Lead the as‑built process. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Geography, or a related field. Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in the state of California required. Minimum of 8 years of experience in land surveying, geomatics, or geospatial engineering, including boundary, topographic, and construction surveying. Minimum 3–5 years of experience leading survey crews or managing geospatial/technical programs. Valid California Driver’s license, including state required levels of active auto insurance. Ability to conduct high‑precision drone mapping and terrestrial laser scanning. Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD, Civil3D, Trimble, and ArcGIS. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of 3D point clouds.
