RN - Acute Care Float Pool

As a Registered Nurse in the Float Pool, you will deliver direct patient care, applying the nursing process with clinical expertise and adhering to professional ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure patient safety by following established protocols for infection control, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications.
• Maintain central lines and prevent surgical site infections according to policy.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and educate patients and families to support positive health outcomes.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status and communicate findings to the healthcare team.
• Document all care activities and quality measures accurately to support clinical decisions.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage with patients and families to enhance their experience and provide necessary education.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current RN license valid in the state or Compact Licensure.
• Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Physical and Mental Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and twisting. Frequent exposure to infectious diseases and potential encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
