Ophthalmic Technician

About this role


Healthcare Staffing Professionals has an immediate need for a Ophthalmic Technician to work in a medical center located in Los Angeles. Qualified candidates should have a minimum of six (6) months of experience in a healthcare setting and be proficient in the following duties:


Pay Rate : $43/hr


Location : Los Angeles, CA


Schedule : The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (8-hour shifts). The department may consider earlier or later shifts, depending on departmental and patient care needs.


Job Duties :

• Prepares treatment rooms, including equipment based on the procedure or purpose of examination and keeping the rooms neat and clean.
• Prepares patients for eye, including escorting patients to exam rooms, interviewing patients to obtain basic medical information, medications, and measuring, recording and reporting visual acuity, intraocular pressure, color vision testing, pupillary response,
• Assists provider with examination and procedures as necessary, including intraocular pressure evaluation and treatment, and administration of appropriate eye drops, including topical antibiotic, dilating, and anesthetic drops as directed by physician. Assist provider with sterile prepping of areas, as indicated by the provider. Prepare medications for injection as instructed by provider.
• Performs formal visual field testing, optical coherence tomography scans, all tests for intraocular lens calculations, Optos color and fluorescein angiography photos, topography, ocular ultrasound, and other ophthalmic tests as needed.
• As authorized, provides information to patients; assists in educating, teaching and encouraging the development of basic health habits and preventive care.
• Cares for ophthalmic instruments, monitoring for malfunction and ensuring proper calibration.
• Enters patient's medical information into the electronic patient charting progress notes in the appropriate medical record, inputs imaging orders.
