Company paid Long Term Disability Flexible Work Schedules Competitive Pay End of year gift Tuition Reimbursement Employee Assistance Programs Position: Grief Counselor/Community Liaison Location: New Braunfels, TX Job Id: 312 # of Openings: 1 Job Summary Provides grief support services for Hope Hospice patients, families and the community. Assists in the development, implementation and delivery of all services, including individual counseling, grief support groups, training programs, outreach, collaboratives and special events. Supports the Mission of Hope Hospice and Hope Hospice Foundation acting as a community liaison and ambassador, publicly and privately, to enhance the mental health, resilience and well‑being of the communities served. Job Status: Full Time Job Relationships: Reports to Bereavement Program Manager Qualifications Masters degree in counseling. Current Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Professional Counselor Associate licensure. Will consider a recent graduate with Licensed Professional Counselor Associate licensure pending. Demonstrated clinical and experiential skill and experience in the areas of individual, family and group therapy, and outreach events. Clinical and experiential experience in the areas of death, dying, grief and loss a plus; willingness to learn about these areas required. Demonstrated skill and experience in administrative performance including expertise in written and oral communication and electronic documentation. Comfort making numerous phone calls each week and answering phones as needed. Professional personal appearance, behavior, attitude, and integrity. Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship skills. Acts as a team player exhibiting flexibility, self‑motivation, dependability and the ability to work well with others and chip in where needed and as asked. Able to solve problems, make decisions, set priorities, and keep accurate, timely, and orderly records. Proficiency in Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook required. Proficiency in Canva a plus but not a requirement. Clinical and experiential experience in the area of play therapy a plus. Bilingual [Spanish/English] is a plus but not a requirement. Public relations, particularly in the non‑profit arena, a plus but not a requirement. Valid Texas Driver’s and reliable transportation required. Duties and Responsibilities Assists in the implementation of support groups, memorial services, special events and outreach for the Hope Hospice families as well as for the community at large. Provides direct services through: Telephone contact – day to day, scheduling, follow up, Plan of Care calls Telehealth platforms In‑take interviews – Individual, Guardian, Camp, Group Support group facilitation and co‑facilitation In‑person and telehealth individual counseling – ages 6 and up Community outreach and events Grief camps and retreats Community collaboratives Providing referrals to other community resources as necessary Assists in the coordination, implementation and evaluation of outreach, special events and support groups, specifically the creation and implementation of a support group aimed at the young adult population [17‑27 years of age] and a Seguin specific community collaborative [later to be expanded to Bulverde/Spring Branch], under the supervision of the Bereavement Program Manager. Documentation/Evaluation Thoroughly and appropriately document assessments, interventions and care plans according to CHAP standards and regulatory and legal requirements. Responsible for collecting and documenting all intake and evaluation data for review by the Bereavement Program Manager. Assists Bereavement Program Manager in the collection and analysis of data for grant and reporting purposes. Education/Community Liaison Assists with volunteer training and recruitment, retention and supervision of volunteer staff, if, as and when directed by the Bereavement Program Manager. Responsible for educating the community on Hope Hospice, the Hampel‑Wuest Grief and Hope Center and on grief and loss related issues in general. Act as liaison/public relations agent for Hope Hospice and the Hampel‑Wuest Grief and Hope Center through outreach events and collaboratives in the community. Works collaboratively with the Bereavement Program Manager and the Director of Development to cultivate, develop and strengthen relationships with the philanthropic community, donors, sponsors, corporations, foundations, board members, volunteers, and the general public. Participates with community organizations, collaboratives and the general public to increase the mental health, resilience and well‑being of the community. Works closely with the Bereavement Program Manager and community collaboratives to identify community needs and to brainstorm and implement creative solutions. General Supports the philosophy and objectives of Hope Hospice and Hope Hospice Foundation. Promotes a team approach through cooperation, mutual respect, flexibility, and dependability. Participates in appropriate meetings and activities. Exhibits good judgment based on sound reasoning. Seeks personal and professional growth and contributes to an atmosphere of excellence, respect, and caring. Reads materials and attends in‑services, seminars or conventions as needed for professional growth, both independently and as required by the Bereavement Program Manager, specifically in the areas of grief and loss. Maintains professional competency and licensure. Stays current with accreditation and governmental regulations affecting area of expertise. Works well both independently and within the Grief Center structure as a Team Player. Documents effectively and timely for optimal communication, ethical, and accreditation purposes. Working Conditions Counseling office environment - moderate amount of standing, walking, stooping, sitting, computer and telephone use, with minimal amount of lifting required. Some local day travel to community outreach, events, collaboratives and home visits may be required, which may include climbing stairs and variable circumstances. Participation in community outreach, events, collaboratives and grief camps which may include standing, walking, stooping, participation in various recreational activities, with minimal amount of lifting required. Overnight travel for grief camps, retreats and community outreach may be required at times. Travel This position is primarily based in the Bulverde office and requires regular travel between office locations. The expected schedule is three (3) days per week in the Bulverde office and two (2) days per week in the New Braunfels office, based on operational needs. Flexibility may be required to accommodate business demands.
