Senior Paralegal, Bankruptcy

Our client, a prestigious global Am Law firm, is seeking a Senior Bankruptcy Paralegal to support sophisticated Chapter 11 restructuring matters from pre-filing through plan confirmation and post-effective date administration. This individual will work closely with attorneys to coordinate complex case workflows, draft and manage first-day pleadings, oversee court filings and service, prepare hearing materials, monitor dockets, support claims administration and solicitation processes, conduct factual and procedural research, and maintain case files and deadlines. The ideal candidate has extensive Chapter 11 experience, thrives in a fast-paced legal environment, and is comfortable working directly with attorneys, clients, court personnel, and claims agents. Candidates with technical experience in RelOne, Opus 2, iManage, or DAPS will be considered first. This is a hybrid opportunity based in New York, NY.

Responsibilities

• Support Chapter 11 matters throughout the full case lifecycle, including pre-filing, confirmation, and post-effective date activities
• Coordinate case calendars, deadlines, and key deliverables across multiple matters
• Assist with filing preparation, corporate authority review, diligence, creditor information, and case-opening materials
• Draft, proofread, organize, and finalize first-day pleadings, declarations, exhibits, proposed orders, and hearing materials
• Coordinate electronic court filings and service while ensuring compliance with court rules and filing deadlines
• Prepare hearing binders, exhibits, witness materials, courtesy copies, and other courtroom documentation
• Monitor court dockets, track case activity, summarize filings and orders, and maintain case trackers
• Assist with schedules, statements, creditor matrices, claims reconciliation, solicitation, balloting, and other case administration functions
• Conduct factual and procedural research related to bankruptcy rules, court procedures, and case-specific issues
• Organize and maintain large volumes of case documents, exhibits, service lists, and claims-related materials
• Provide guidance on Chapter 11 procedures and coordinate work with junior support staff
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required
• Paralegal certificate preferred
• Minimum 6 years of bankruptcy paralegal experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent proofreading and document review abilities
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Experience using Westlaw, Lexis, and other legal research platforms
• Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills
• Knowledge of legal billing, court procedures, and bankruptcy practice
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Flexibility to work extended hours and travel when needed
• Experience with Excel, iManage, DAPS, LiveNote, Relativity, or Opus 2 is preferred

Expected salary for this non-exempt role is $140,000 - $190,000, commensurate with experience, training, skills, qualifications, and other market factors.
