Senior Solutions Architect

Job Title: Senior Solutions Architect Location:Chicago, IL (Oniste) Duration: 6 months Experience Required: 8-10 JD Job description: We are seeking a Senior Solutions Architect (Contractor) to support Vizient's Strategic Growth Engineering organization. This is a hands-on role focused on designing and delivering end-to-end, cloud-native solutions spanning data platforms, full-stack applications, and AI-enabled capabilities. You will work across the full technology stack-Angular front-end, .NET-based services, and Databricks-powered data platforms-to build scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions. A key aspect of this role includes enabling AI-driven experiences using RAG patterns and Databricks Genie, integrated into modern application architectures. This role requires a strong practitioner mindset-you won't just define architecture, you'll build, prototype, and guide implementation while partnering closely with Engineering, Product, Cloud Ops, Security, and IT teams. Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver end-to-end solution architectures spanning front-end (Angular), back-end (.NET), data platforms (Databricks), APIs, and cloud infrastructure (Azure).
• Act as a hands-on architect, contributing code, prototypes, and reference implementations across application, data, and AI layers.
• Architect and implement modern full-stack applications, ensuring seamless integration between UI, services, and data platforms.
• Lead the design of data and analytics solutions using Databricks, including data pipelines, lakehouse architecture, and integration with application services.
• Design and integrate AI-enabled solutions, including:

o Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) patterns o Databricks Genie and conversational data interfaces o Secure and scalable LLM integration into applications

• Collaborate with engineering teams to build reusable frameworks, shared services, and integration patterns across front-end, back-end, and data layers.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, CloudOps, and Security teams to ensure security, reliability, and governance are embedded into all solutions.
• Lead architecture and design sessions, providing clear technical direction and influencing decisions across stakeholders.
• Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements including performance, scalability, cost optimization, security, and compliance (HIPAA, SOC 2).
• Drive adoption of modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, and observability.
• Mentor team members and promote engineering excellence and best practices across the organization.
• Ensure all solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, data governance policies, and CISO directives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in architecture or senior design roles.
• Proven experience as a hands-on Solutions Architect in enterprise, cloud-native environments.
• Strong experience building full-stack applications, including:

o Front-end: Angular (or similar modern frameworks) o Back-end: .NET / C# APIs and services

• Solid experience with Databricks and data engineering, including Spark, Delta Lake, and pipeline development (balanced with application focus).
• Experience designing and implementing AI-enabled solutions, including RAG architectures and LLM integration.
• Familiarity with Databricks Genie or similar conversational analytics / AI tooling.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, including compute, storage, networking, and security services.
• Experience with API design, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems.
• Proficiency in programming and scripting (e.g., C#, Python, SQL, Bash).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks such as HIPAA and SOC 2.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value.

Preferred :

• Experience in healthcare or regulated industries
• Azure and/or Databricks certifications
• Experience building data-driven or AI-powered user experiences
