Districtwide/ School Psychologist/ School Psychologist Intern (2026-27 SY) Elko District Wide - Elko, Nevada Job Details Job ID: 5750024 Application Deadline: Jul 30, 2026 11:59 PM (Central Standard Time) Posted: Jun 01, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: To Be Determined Job Description School Psychologist/School Psychologist Intern Division: Licensed Personnel Classification: Certified Terms of Employment: 187-day contract FLSA Status: Exempt This is a salaried position assigned to the Elko County Basic Salary Schedule Position Summary: The School Psychologist will assist students to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. They collaborate with educators, administrators, families, and other mental health professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students and strengthen connections between home and school. The School Psychologist will provide a full range of psychological services to children, including screening and assessment, designing remedial education programs, individual and group counseling with school staff, parents, and outside agencies as appropriate. The School Psychologist functions as a member of the multi‑disciplinary team to determine the student’s eligibility for special services, appropriate programming, and on‑going progress. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Screen and evaluate referred children including selecting appropriate instruments, administering tests, observations, and writing reports which state the evaluation findings and provide for educational program recommendations. Administers appropriate assessments to students, on referral, interprets results, summarizes findings for parents, and reports findings via approved district procedures; writes intervention plans; ensures that assessments and plans are implemented within stipulated time frames and according to guidelines; processes appropriate referral documentation. Participate as a member of the multi‑disciplinary team and the individualized education program (IEP) committee contributing evaluation findings and collaborating on the child’s education plan and placement. Carry out research to aid in introduction of programs in schools to meet current psychological, educational, and social needs of students. Coordinate with school staff and parents to arrange for special placement or other treatment programs as needed. Provide individual and group services to children and/or parents that emphasize improved educational performance and/or conduct. Provide collaborative consultation and documentation of results including assisting basic education staff with suggestions, pre‑referral intervention strategies, and providing recommendations and modifications to assist basic education staff in working with special education students in the classroom setting. Consult with parents, teachers, and other appropriate staff regarding the child’s program and any adaptations/materials needed to facilitate improved performance in the classroom or at home. Provide direct services through a variety of methods (e.g. classroom presentation, co‑teaching in general education settings, professional development for school staff/parents, etc.) as needed. Maintain appropriate data on students to document current levels of performance and other pertinent information. Re‑evaluate, as appropriate, to determine extent of progress and effectiveness of students’ programming. Support and implement District policies, regulations, procedures, and administrative directives. Serve as consultant to the director, district committees, superintendent, school board and parent/teacher groups in matters involving psychological services within the educational system. Submit records, reports, and assignments promptly and efficiently. Demonstrate ability to adjust to and use new approaches in the performance of his/her duties. Seek and take advantage of opportunities for professional growth. Other duties as assigned. Position Expectations Demonstrate the knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding the identification and placement of students in special education. Demonstrate the knowledge of current theories and methodologies of effective instructional intervention and behavior modification. Demonstrate the knowledge of community support resources and family service agencies. Refer families as needed. Have and maintain the skills to obtain, clarify, and exchange information and provide instruction to parents related to the use of behavior modification techniques. Have the ability to effectively communicate instructional strategies and interventions, maintain confidentiality, act as a liaison with community family service agencies and other support resources, establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people in a multi‑culturally diverse socio-economic setting. Language and Communication Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret psycho‑educational assessments of students. Ability to write reports in a clear and understandable manner, conveying accurate interpretation of data collection and test information to create a student profile of strengths and weaknesses. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from school staff, parents and outside agencies. Computer Skills Knowledge of database software. Position Qualifications Preferred Education and Experience Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent from accredited college or university. Must possess or be able to acquire the proper certification and endorsements as required by the Nevada Department of Education. Qualifying License: Special Qualifying Endorsement: School Psychologist Alternative Education and Experience Must have completed all coursework towards a Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent from accredited college or university with exception of internship.
