Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Associate

Job Overview A law firm seeks an Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Associate in San Diego, CA. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in executive compensation and employee benefits law, including equity plans, executive retention packages, and compensation arrangements in mergers and acquisitions. Strong analytical and writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently are essential. Duties Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support transaction preparation and strategy. Draft well‑reasoned legal documents, including memos and contracts. Assist in managing complex cases and transactions from inception to resolution. Build and maintain strong client relationships by providing professional support and advice. Collaborate with other lawyers to develop innovative transaction strategies. Participate in high‑level legal activities, including client meetings and negotiations. Ensure compliance with legal standards and stay updated on legal precedents. Engage in professional development to enhance legal knowledge and skills. Contribute to firm programs, civic organizations, and pro bono work. Requirements Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Strong research, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Good business and professional judgment. Ability to work collaboratively and independently. 2+ years of applicable AmLaw 100 firm experience preferred. Education JD from an accredited law school (LLM in Tax and/or Employee Benefits Certificate preferred). Certifications Admitted to practice in the state of California. Skills Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Conceptual thinking and persuasive communication. Management skills.
