Project Manager – Environmental | Brooklyn, NY LaBella is seeking an Environmental Project Manager to join our growing, multi-disciplinary Brooklyn, NY office. LaBella is a 100% employee-owned firm with more than 2,000 professionals in 40+ offices across 14 states, with additional international offices in the U.K. and Spain. Our Brooklyn office offers the best of both worlds: the visibility, flexibility, and entrepreneurial feel of a boutique consulting practice, backed by the resources, technical depth, and long-term career opportunities of a larger firm. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated environmental professional who is ready to take ownership of projects, clients, and staff development while helping grow a dynamic New York City practice. The successful candidate will manage environmental due diligence, investigation, and remediation projects, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, NYC E-Designation projects, NYS Brownfield Cleanup Program projects, spill sites, and other complex urban redevelopment assignments throughout the five boroughs and the NYC metropolitan area. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing project scope, schedule, budget, staffing, technical deliverables, regulatory coordination, and client communication. The role will include preparing and reviewing work plans, proposals, investigation reports, remedial action plans, and regulatory submittals; coordinating field teams, contractors, drillers, laboratories, and technical specialists; evaluating environmental data; and helping guide projects from due diligence through investigation, remediation, and closure. We are looking for someone who combines strong technical judgment with practical project management skills, clear communication, and a collaborative approach. The ideal candidate will enjoy mentoring junior staff, working directly with clients and regulatory agencies, solving problems in real time, and contributing to the continued growth of LaBella’s Brooklyn environmental practice. For the right person, this role offers significant upside: meaningful project responsibility, direct access to senior leadership, opportunities to help shape a growing office, and a path toward expanded client management, business development, and leadership within an employee-owned company. LaBella offers excellent training, mentorship, career advancement opportunities, employee ownership, and outstanding benefits. This is a strong opportunity for a smart, driven, and technically capable environmental professional who wants to build a long-term career in New York City environmental consulting. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Manage environmental due diligence, investigation, and remediation projects throughout the five boroughs and the NYC metropolitan area, including Phase I/II ESAs, NYC E-Designation projects, NYS Brownfield Cleanup Program projects, spill sites, and construction-phase environmental work. Manage project scope, schedule, budget, staffing, deliverables, and client expectations from project initiation through completion. Prepare, review, and manage proposals, work plans, investigation reports, remedial action plans, closure documentation, and other technical and regulatory deliverables. Oversee and coordinate field investigations, including soil, groundwater, soil vapor, and surface water sampling, drilling programs, contractor oversight, construction support, and related field documentation. Direct and support field staff, subcontractors, drillers, laboratories, and technical specialists to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements. Review, evaluate, organize, and present environmental data, including analytical results, field observations, figures, maps, tables, and supporting documentation. Communicate project status, findings, recommendations, schedule issues, and budget considerations clearly to clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and internal project teams. Maintain regular and open communication with project team members, including senior technical reviewers, junior staff, administrative support, and multidisciplinary colleagues. Collaborate with environmental scientists, engineers, geologists, planners, contractors, and government agencies to achieve project objectives and resolve technical, regulatory, and logistical challenges. Mentor and support junior staff by providing technical guidance, field planning support, report review, and practical project management direction. Establish and track project milestones, deadlines, budgets, and resource needs to support timely and profitable project delivery. Maintain accurate project documentation, including environmental assessments, permits, reports, correspondence, field records, laboratory data, and regulatory communications. Conduct and oversee work in accordance with professional standards, applicable regulations, LaBella’s QA/QC policies, and the firm’s core values. Represent LaBella professionally in interactions with clients, regulators, subcontractors, teaming partners, and other project stakeholders. Support the continued growth of LaBella’s Brooklyn environmental practice through strong project delivery, client service, staff development, and collaboration with senior leadership. Required Education & Qualifications: B.S. degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Approximately 5–10 years of professional environmental consulting experience, including experience managing environmental due diligence, investigation, remediation, and/or construction-phase environmental projects.
