Senior Software Engineering Lead

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Lead for a large company in the manufacturing industry. In this role, you will lead a team of software engineers while remaining deeply engaged in solution architecture, hands-on development, and AI innovation. You will design and build scalable cloud-native applications leveraging Node.js, NestJS, React, Cosmos DB, Docker, and AKS, while driving the adoption of AI-powered software engineering practices across the organization. Responsibilities include developing AI agents, RAG pipelines, and Copilot-enabled workflows; implementing AI-driven testing and observability solutions; leading CI/CD strategy and cloud governance; ensuring security and compliance for AI-enabled applications; mentoring engineers; and partnering with stakeholders to accelerate software delivery through automation, modern DevOps practices, and emerging AI technologies.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.

4+ years of technical leadership and people management experience.

Proven experience leading Agile software development teams.

Expert-level experience with:

Node.js (TypeScript)

NestJS

React

Experience designing and developing scalable enterprise applications.

Experience with Azure Cosmos DB data modeling and schema design.

Strong REST API design and development expertise.

Deep hands-on experience with:

Microsoft Azure

Docker containerization

Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)

Experience deploying, managing, and scaling production workloads in Kubernetes environments.

API Management & Integration

Expertise with Azure API Management (APIM).

Experience securing, publishing, monitoring, and governing enterprise APIs.

Experience integrating AI services and external applications through APIs.

AI Engineering & Automation

Experience building and deploying:

Multi-agent AI workflows

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions

Vector database and retrieval architectures

Azure OpenAI-powered applications

Experience implementing AI-assisted software development workflows. Conversational AI & Agentic Systems

Experience delivering production-scale chatbots using:

Microsoft Copilot Studio

Custom LLM applications

Azure OpenAI Services

Experience with Agent-to-Agent or MCP-based integrations.

AI-Driven SDLC Transformation

Experience implementing:

AI-assisted code generation

Automated documentation creation

AI-based code reviews

GitHub Copilot enterprise adoption

Spec-driven development methodologies

DevOps & Testing

Advanced experience with:

GitHub Actions

Azure DevOps

Experience implementing AI-augmented testing and self-healing test automation frameworks.

Security & Identity Management

Experience with:

Azure Managed Identities

Familiarity with secure AI application design, PII protection, and Human-in-the-Loop governance frameworks.

Observability & SRE

Experience with:

Dynatrace

AI-powered monitoring and anomaly detection

Automated incident response and remediation workflows

Root-cause analysis automation

Cloud Financial Management

Experience optimizing Azure cloud spend.

Knowledge of:

OpenAI token consumption management

AKS cost optimization

Auto-scaling strategies

Resource tagging governance

API rate limiting and consumption controls
