Laundry Assistant

Job Summary:

At Allure of Peru, we are all family! We're seeking a Laundry Assistant to join our team. As a Laundry Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the provision of the day-to-day activities of the Laundry Department, providing high-quality services and high standards of cleanliness. You will carry out all laundry duties as directed by the Environmental Services Director, adhering to required department policies and procedures.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Carry out all laundry duties as directed by the Environmental Services Director according to required department policies and procedures.
• Ensure daily work/cleaning schedules are adhered to.
• Maintain a high standard of personal presentation and hygiene.
• Ensure all laundry equipment is correctly and safely used and kept in a safe condition, reporting any defect to the department director.
• Practice sensitivity to the privacy and individual needs of the residents.
• Adhere to infection control policies at all times.
• Adhere to correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
• Ensure all necessary documentation is completed daily.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the Environmental Services Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate daily laundry services in collaboration with nursing services when performing routine assignments.
• Perform daily laundry functions as assigned.
• Ensure an adequate supply of laundry/linen is maintained in designated areas to meet the residents' daily needs.
• Collect, sort, and weigh soiled laundry, linen, clothing, etc. and place items in the appropriate containers or assigned areas.
• Sort soiled laundry, linen, clothing, and separate items that need special stain removal or treatment.
• Sort, count, and wash soiled laundry, linen, clothing, in accordance with established procedures.
• Fold, count, stack, hang, and distribute clean laundry, linen, clothing, to residents daily or as instructed.
• Assure that clean laundry, linen, clothing, is distributed to designated areas during emergency conditions.
• Ensure floors are clean, swept, dusted, and damp or wet mopped in laundry room.
• Remove any dust, dirt, grease, from equipment or floor surfaces utilizing proper cleaning or disinfecting solutions.
• Keep work area free of hazardous conditions such as spills, excess carts, supplies, equipment.
• Report hazardous conditions or equipment to the supervisor.
• Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to the supervisor.
• Ensure equipment is clean and properly stored at the end of the shift.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

• High school diploma or GED diploma
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixing of cleaning compounds, liquids, disinfecting solutions, etc.
• Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning

• Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
• Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
• Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
