About the Unit The 20‑bed MICU provides collaborative, multidisciplinary care to severely ill patients, including those with severe sepsis, acute respiratory failure, shock, ARDS, multisystem organ failure, gastrointestinal bleeds, diabetic ketoacidosis, hypertensive crisis, and acute or chronic renal failure. Nurses on this unit demonstrate advanced critical thinking and physical assessment skills, successfully managing this acutely ill population. Scope of Work The Registered Nurse (RN) applies the ANA scope of practice and the nursing process to deliver patient‑family centered care. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge, following Corewell Health policies and procedures. The RN collaborates with the Nurse Leader and the patient/family to set goals, develops education strategies, and documents learning in the health record. Qualifications Associate’s degree in Nursing (required) Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (required within 5 years) Graduate from a non‑accredited nursing program must have at least 1 year of acute care experience or 2 years of licensed health‑care experience, and must have passed the NCLEX.
