We are looking for a Sr. Tax Accountant to support a dynamic client-serving tax practice in California. This contract position is well suited for an experienced tax accountant who values direct client interaction and enjoys advising small businesses and high-net-worth individuals. The role offers the opportunity to contribute across tax compliance, accounting support, and broader financial planning discussions in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:• Prepare and examine federal and state tax filings for individuals and business entities, including 1040, 1120, 1065, 564, and related forms.
• Manage tax engagements for partnerships, pass-through structures, and closely held companies with accuracy and attention to deadlines.
• Advise business owners on tax planning strategies, particularly for companies with annual revenue typically ranging from $5 million to $10 million.
• Partner with clients on accounting matters and provide guidance that supports overall financial decision-making.
• Assist with advisory work connected to wealth planning topics such as insurance considerations, retirement programs, and long-term financial strategies.
• Use QuickBooks Online to maintain and support client accounting records and related reporting needs.
• Process payroll activities through payroll software in support of client operations.
• Complete tax return preparation using tax software or comparable tax preparation software.
• Communicate proactively with clients to gather documentation, explain tax matters, and deliver responsive service throughout the engagement cycle.• At least 3 years of tax experience within a public accounting environment.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare both individual and business tax returns independently.
• Hands-on experience with pass-through entities, partnerships, and closely held business structures.
• Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online for accounting support and client record maintenance.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a service-oriented approach to client relationships.
• Familiarity with forms such as 1040, 1120, and 1065, along with general business and individual tax compliance requirements.
• Interest in expanding into wealth management and financial planning concepts is strongly preferred.
