About This Role
Instruct preschool-aged children in a nurturing environment, encouraging their social, physical, and intellectual growth to prepare them for primary school. This role requires passion, patience, and the ability to work with children of varying needs and abilities.
What You'll Do- Engage children in interactive activities that foster exploration, creativity, and learning.
- Attend to the children's basic needs, ensuring their well-being and comfort.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that promote cognitive, social, and emotional growth.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment that promotes learning and development.
- Read to the children, using various techniques to make the experience enjoyable and engaging.
- Plan and lead activities that promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts, and crafts, music, and storytelling.
- Monitor and assess the children's progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness.
- Collaborate with parents and guardians to develop strategies for promoting the children's learning and development.
- Enforce classroom rules and policies, ensuring a positive and respectful learning environment.
- Prepare the classroom for lessons, ensuring that materials and equipment are organized and readily available.
- Model and teach proper eating habits and personal hygiene practices.
- Supervise mealtime and snack time, ensuring the children's dietary needs are met.
- Welcome children as they arrive, helping them to settle and feel secure in the classroom.
- Modify teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs and interests of the children.
- Set clear goals and objectives for lessons, communicating them clearly to the children.
- Demonstrate activities, providing hands-on guidance and support.
- Arrange the classroom environment to promote creative play, motor skill activities, and safety.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of the children's progress and development.
- Prepare reports on the children's activities and progress, as required.
- Plan and conduct activities that provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time.
- Display the children's work, showcasing their achievements and progress.
- Attend professional meetings, conferences, and training sessions to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan and schedule lessons, promoting a cohesive and effective curriculum.
- Supervise and evaluate the work of teacher assistants and volunteers.
- Work with colleagues to develop, evaluate, and revise preschool programs.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
- Meet with professionals to discuss individual children's needs and progress.
- Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, and other experiential activities.
- Procure and manage classroom equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Provide assistive devices and support to children with special needs.
- Perform administrative duties, such as monitoring the hallway and cafeteria, and supervising bus loading and unloading.
- Administer tests to assess the children's developmental levels, needs, and potential.
- Develop and implement remedial programs for children requiring extra support.
- Enforce classroom rules and policies governing student behavior.
- Read to students and encourage their participation.
- Teach life skills, including personal hygiene and nutrition.
- Establish rules or policies governing student behavior and enforce them consistently.
- Discuss problems or issues with supervisors and develop strategies for improvement.
- Plan educational activities that promote learning and development.
- Evaluate student work and provide feedback to support improvement.
- Monitor student behavior, social development, or health, and report any concerns to supervisors or parents.
- Provide for the basic needs of children, including nutrition and safety.
- Modify teaching methods or materials to accommodate student needs and abilities.
- Develop instructional objectives that align with the curriculum and learning goals.
- Arrange childcare or educational settings to ensure physical safety and well-being.

- Supervise student research or internship work and provide guidance and support.
- Serve on institutional or departmental committees to contribute to policy development and decision-making.
- Assist students with special educational needs and provide support and accommodations as required.
- Administer tests to assess educational needs and progress, and develop strategies for improvement.
- Develop strategies or programs for students with special needs, including those with physical or cognitive disabilities.

- Compact digital cameras, for capturing student work and activities
- Compact disk CD players, for playing educational music and content
- Desktop computers, for access to educational resources and software
- Educational board games and puzzles, for promoting cognitive development and teamwork
- Email software, for communicating with parents and colleagues
- Emergency first aid kits, for responding to minor injuries or accidents
- Pegboards, for organizing classroom materials and equipment
- Personal computers, for access to educational resources and software
- Photocopying equipment, for duplicating educational materials and handouts
- Play structures, sand tables, and water tables, for promoting physical activity and exploration
- Toy block sets, for developing fine motor skills and creativity
