Director Of Financial Planning & Analysis (Fpa)

The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) will lead the organization's healthcare financial analytics, revenue recognition, and reporting infrastructure, playing a critical role in transforming complex financial and operational data into actionable business insights.

This senior leadership role requires strong analytical capabilities, expertise in healthcare financial data, revenue accrual methodologies, and reporting automation, while partnering with leadership to support financial planning, operational performance, and strategic decision-making in a remote environment.

Essential Functions

• Revenue Recognition & Accrual (Cash Waterfall): Own the monthly revenue accrual process by maintaining, and continuously enhancing a detailed cash waterfall model used to recognize accrual-based revenue. Ensure accurate, timely, and well-documented revenue recognition that supports financial reporting, audit readiness, and executive decision-making.

• Data Pipeline & Infrastructure: Own and continuously improve the end-to-end finance data pipeline, integrating transaction-level data across multiple EMR systems into a scalable, reliable source of truth for financial reporting, analytics, forecasting, and operational decision-making.

• Reporting & Metrics: Lead the development and delivery of executive reporting and financial analytics, including the MOR, private equity reporting packages, labor reporting, and operational dashboards. Develop meaningful KPIs, reporting standards, and data visualizations that provide actionable insights to physicians, field leadership, and executives.

• Revenue Cycle & AR Audit Support: Partner with billing and accounting teams on revenue and accounts receivable analysis, supporting internal and external audits with accurate, well-documented data.

• Financial Analysis: Serve as a strategic business partner by translating complex financial and operational data into actionable insights that support executive decision-making, operational improvements, and growth initiatives.

• Performance Monitoring & Indicators: Enhance leading and lagging indicators to measure financial and operational success, while establishing and optimizing KPIs to track performance across the organization.

• Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the annual budgeting and forecasting processes through financial modeling, scenario analysis, business case development, and reporting that informs strategic and operational decision-making.

• Financial Strategy & Planning: Partner with executive leadership by providing financial analytics, reporting, and decision support that align with the company's strategic goals, acquisitions, operational excellence, and enterprise initiatives, including SG&A management in partnership with operations.

• Cost Management: Identify and implement cost-saving measures and efficiency improvements.

• Strategic Support: Provide senior-level financial insights to support business development and company growth.

• Compliance: Ensure that all financial planning and analysis activities adhere to industry regulations and internal policies.

• Remote Operations: Leverage digital tools to manage and coordinate FP&A activities across remote teams.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; CPA or CFA certification preferred. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is highly desirable.

Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in healthcare financial analytics, business intelligence, financial reporting, or financial planning and analysis, preferably within a multi-site healthcare environment. Experience supporting acquisitions and integrating financial data across multiple systems is strongly preferred.

Skills:

• Data Automation & Visualization: Advanced proficiency with Alteryx, SQL, Power BI, Excel PowerPivot, or similar tools to automate data pipelines, build scalable financial data models, and deliver executive dashboards and reporting.

• Multi-EMR / Healthcare Data: Deep experience extracting, validating, normalizing, and analyzing billing, collections, and operational data across multiple EMR systems (e.g., eCW, Criterion, AllScripts, etc.) within a multi-practice healthcare environment.

• Process and Automation: Skilled in optimizing processes and leveraging automation for efficiency.

• Documentation: Strong documentation practices to support data integrity, financial reporting consistency, audit readiness, and repeatable reporting processes.

• Insights vs. Reporting: Distinguishes between providing raw data and delivering actionable insights that inform strategic decision-making.

• Experience using financial planning, reporting, and analytics platforms (e.g., Excel, Adaptive Insights, Hyperion, Power BI, or similar tools).

• Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to build high-performing processes through collaboration and cross-functional teamwork.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex financial information to various stakeholders.

Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and executive decision-making through financial analytics and data-driven insights, particularly within remote environments.
