Assistant Branch Manager

Position Summary Assist branch manager in overall daily operations of the branch, including maximizing sales and profitability by assisting counter sales members when needed and controlling expenses and shortages. Assist branch manager in completion of special projects. Essential Tasks Assist in the hiring process and supervise employees who meet all critical requirements and qualifications for each position (counter sales, warehouse, delivery drivers, outside sales, and others as approved). Review work throughout the process and at completion to ensure it has been performed effectively. Assist in planning work schedules and assign duties to maintain adequate staffing levels and respond to fluctuating workloads. Communicate with employees on a regular basis to ensure procedures are followed and new procedures or methods are considered and implemented promptly. Assist branch manager in appraising and documenting employee performance at regular intervals as required by company procedures, ensuring a plan for improvement and potential. Meet with each employee at least once a year to formally review performance and discuss future objectives and goals. Enforce company policies and procedures. Counsel employees in work-related activities, personal growth, and career development. Report work-related injuries to the third-party administrator, Zurich, and to the Safety Department. Work the parts counter daily to ensure proper procedures are followed and maintain familiarity with the processes. Ensure that all walk-in customers are greeted immediately and an associate offers assistance within two minutes. Make certain all orders are filled at a rate of 100% accuracy. Post all inventory receipts daily. Invoice all sales daily. Deposit all cash receipts in accordance with accounting instructions. Process all vendor invoices in accordance with accounting instructions. Suggest additions or deletions to inventory and update catalogues as needed. Assist branch manager with all inventory reports reviewed, taking corrective action on all negative quantities. Follow up or cancel open invoices and purchase orders. Assist in establishing preventive maintenance plans for equipment such as delivery trucks and forklifts, and conduct daily inspections of such equipment. Maintain the branch appearance, including daily cleaning of the entire facility (inside and outside), restocking display areas and restrooms. Ensure all associates answer the telephone in a uniform manner. Responsible for the branch’s core daily operations in the absence of the branch manager. Work on special projects as appointed by the branch manager. Skills Monitoring – assessing performance of yourself and others to make improvements or take corrective action. Critical Thinking – using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Coordination – adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions. Oral Expression – communicating information and ideas in speaking so others will understand. Oral Comprehension – understanding information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Problem Sensitivity – recognizing when something is wrong or likely to go wrong. Deductive Reasoning – applying general rules to specific problems to produce sensible answers. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions Handling of normal stock may include lifting or carrying parts in excess of 60 lbs up to 15% of the time; the majority of lifting and carrying involve parts between 5 and 60 lbs. Environmental conditions include inside/outside work, varied temperature changes, minimal chemical hazards, vibration, dust, vehicle noise. OSHA-approved steel-toed safety shoes are required from the first day of employment. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma (or GED or equivalency) required; Associate’s Degree in Business Administration preferred. Professional Experience: Minimum of 3 years in the heavy-duty truck parts industry with progressive responsibility. Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Salary: $35,568.00 – $65,000.00 per hour/year, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
