Position Summary
The Program Officer plays an integral role in supporting the Foundation's grantmaking, community engagement, research, and operational activities. This position works collaboratively across the organization to ensure the effective administration of grants, foster strong relationships with nonprofit partners, coordinate community events, and support the Foundation's mission-driven initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Grants Management
- Support the administration of the Foundation's grantmaking process from application through reporting.
- Maintain accurate grant records and ensure adherence to internal quality control procedures.
- Assist with grantee training, application management, grant agreements, reporting, site visits, and portfolio administration.
- Provide administrative and project support to the CEO and Program team on grant-related initiatives.
Community Engagement & Events
- Coordinate and support Foundation-sponsored meetings, educational programs, and community events.
- Assist with planning and logistics for stakeholder gatherings and grantee convenings.
- Represent the Foundation professionally at meetings and special events.
Partnerships & Community Relations
- Build and maintain positive relationships with nonprofit partners, community organizations, funders, and stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to expand partnerships that align with the Foundation's mission.
- Monitor emerging trends affecting older adults and individuals with serious illnesses.
- Serve as a welcoming first point of contact for visitors, callers, and community partners.
Research & Communications
- Conduct research to support program initiatives and strategic priorities.
- Prepare reports, presentations, briefing materials, and research summaries.
- Assist with data analysis and presentation development for internal and external audiences.
- Support website updates using WordPress and assist with email communications through Constant Contact.
Board & Meeting Support
- Prepare materials for Board and committee meetings.
- Provide administrative support during executive, committee, and Board meetings.
- Assist with meeting logistics and follow-up.
- Office Operations
- Manage incoming phone calls and direct inquiries appropriately.
- Coordinate meeting refreshments and office hospitality.
- Manage office supplies, mail distribution, deliveries, and filing systems.
- Support day-to-day administrative operations that contribute to an efficient office environment.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred, with coursework or experience related to nonprofit management, healthcare, aging services, social work, public health, or a related field.
- Two or more years of experience in a nonprofit, foundation, healthcare, or community-based organization.
- Experience supporting grants management, program administration, or community initiatives preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- Experience using grants management or customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
- Familiarity with WordPress, Constant Contact, or similar communication platforms is preferred.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience preparing written reports, presentations, and communications for a variety of audiences.

Work Environment
This position follows a hybrid work schedule, combining work in a professional office setting with remote work from a quiet, dedicated home workspace with reliable internet access. Local travel throughout the Washington metropolitan area is required for meetings, site visits, and community events.
