Make an impact by supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a school-based contract role. This part-time opportunity is ideal for an educator who wants to provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, helping them reach their fullest potential. The assignment is located near Macon, GA, and involves working approximately 4 hours per week.
Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments in educational settings
- Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with school staff and families
- Organizational skills to effectively manage caseload and documentation
- Ability to develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs)
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instructional support to students with visual impairments according to their IEPs
- Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to create an accessible learning environment
- Assess student progress and provide updates to the educational team and families
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff to ensure student success
- Train school staff and families in the use of adaptive materials and assistive technology
- Document services provided and maintain appropriate records
