A brief overviewThe Manager of Production plays a key role in overseeing the end‑to‑end manufacturing process to ensure operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. This position supports the Director of Production by strategically allocating resources and optimizing workflows to meet production timelines, quality standards, and output targets. The Production Manager is accountable for all aspects of GMP‑compliant manufacturing, including safety, product quality, regulatory adherence, and overall operational performance. Additionally, this role contributes to the successful introduction of new products and technologies, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborates closely with cross‑functional teams to support organizational goals.What you will doManage and develop production teams, including recruitment, training, and performance management for peptide (and/or oligo) manufacturingCollaborate between Production and other supporting departments such as Supply Chain, Materials Management, QC, and QA to ensure all necessary resources are available and utilized effectivelySupervise, address and resolve any issues that arise with all peptide manufacturing stages which include synthesis, cleavage, (or) purification, reconstitution and lyophilizationSupervise in-process analysis in all manufacturing stages (USP or DSP stages)Assign tasks for team members and follow up on completionEnsure compliance that written procedures (SOP, BPR) and cGMP guidelines are followed to meet quality standardsReview and complete cGMP documentationAdhere to manufacturing schedules and timelinesPropose technical and chemical improvements of the manufacturing processEnsure safe, efficient and conscious use of the instruments, raw materials and other resourcesEnforce health and safety regulations to maintain a safe and secure working environmentQualificationsBachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field requiredMaster's Degree preferredPhD preferred8+ years of experience as a production chemist in a cGMP environment preferredPrevious team leadership or project management experience requiredMinimum 1 year of professional experience in cGMP manufacturing, safety regulations and documentation standards preferredProficient with various in-process analytical methods preferredDetail oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems requiredExperience in organic chemistry preferredExperience as a peptide production chemist preferredProficient with all peptide manufacturing stages preferredExperience with manufacturing equipment such as reactors for commercial scale preferredExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to effectively organize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environmentAbility to communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner, including keeping management aware of potential issuesCommunicate effectively and ability to function well in a team environmentAdvanced PC knowledge including planning toolsBase Annual Salary Range: Manager $116,572 - $160,286.50Sr. Manager $123,894.40 - $170,354.80Placement of new hires in this wage range is based on several factors including education, skill sets, experience, and training.Total RewardsWe offer all Team Members a total rewards package including competitive pay, annual performance bonus, a generous benefit package with comprehensive Medical/Dental/Vision coverage, 401(k) plan with employer contribution, and paid vacation, personal and sick days.Corporate Social ResponsibilityBachem takes responsibility for future generations by a careful handling of resources and avoiding environmental risks.
