CDL Dump Truck Driver

CDL Dump Truck Driver Water DepartmentC.J. Hughes Construction Co., Inc. is seeking a CDL-A or CDL-B Truck Driver to support our Water and Sewer Construction crews. This position will be assigned to a field crew and assist with the installation, repair, and replacement of underground water and sewer lines.This role consists of approximately 50% Driving and 50% Laboring. The position is physically demanding and requires individuals who are willing to work alongside the crew performing manual labor while safely operating company vehicles and equipment.Essential Functions & Responsibilities:Operate CDL-required vehicles including dump trucks, trailers, and equipment haulers exceeding 26,000 lbsHaul equipment, pipe, materials, and debris to and from job sitesLoad, unload, and secure materials using chains, ratchet straps, and tarpsPerform daily pre-shift inspections of vehicles and equipment and complete required documentationMaintain driver logs when requiredPerform general labor duties on water and sewer construction crewsAssist with hand digging, shoveling, and site preparationLift and carry materials up to 75 lbs on a regular basisWork safely in outdoor and extreme weather conditionsFollow all company safety policies and procedures while maintaining awareness in the "red zone"Perform duties as assigned by supervisor to support crew production and efficiencyQualifications:Valid CDL-A or CDL-B Driver's License meeting Company Fleet Policy requirementsMinimum 1 year CDL driving experienceMinimum 1 year CDL licenseAbility to obtain and maintain a valid DOT Medical CardHigh School Diploma or GED (preferred)Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge of underground utility markings and locator systemsAbility to safely operate vehicles around workers, equipment, and underground utilitiesAbility to properly secure loads and operate hauling equipmentStrong communication and teamwork skillsReliable, dependable, and strong work ethicAbility to follow directions and maintain strong safety awarenessAbility to perform physically demanding work including lifting, climbing, kneeling, reaching, and crawlingAbility to work in the "red zone" around heavy equipmentFlexibility to adapt to different job sites, schedules, and travel requirementsEmployment Requirements:Valid Drivers License and Reliable TransportationMust provide documentation to verify identity and employment eligibility in accordance with federal I-9 requirementsAbility to pass drug test and background checkWillingness to travel and work in different areas as neededCommitment to following all Safety Policies and ProceduresAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physical laborAbility to work overtime and extended hours based on workloadMust be 18 years of agePhysical Requirements:Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 lbs regularlyAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physical labor for extended periodsAbility to work in demanding outdoor construction environmentsWork Environment:Outdoor construction job sites in varying weather conditionsExposure to heavy equipment, noise, traffic, and uneven terrainWork performed in close proximity to active construction operations and utilitiesSchedule/Travel Requirements:Full-time position with potential for overtime and weekend workTravel required depending on job location and project needsFlexibility to work extended hours and overnight stays when necessaryCompensation & Benefits:Competitive pay based on experience401(k) with company matchMedical, dental, and vision insuranceHoliday payPaid vacationOpportunities for professional growth and developmentComprehensive Benefit PackagePay: CDL-A- $26.50, CDL-B $23.50Additional Duties:Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.C.J.
