Head of Retail

We are conducting a confidential search for a Head of Retail to join a rapidly expanding cannabis operator in Missouri. This is a key operational leadership position responsible for overseeing retail execution across the organization and ensuring a consistent, high-performing customer experience across all locations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, execution-focused retail leader who excels at operational accountability, team performance, and driving sales. This position is not focused on developing retail strategy or managing purchasing; the company has established its core retail systems, SOPs, and processes. Instead, the Head of Retail will be responsible for ensuring those standards are consistently executed across the store network while identifying opportunities to improve performance. Key Responsibilities Provide operational leadership and oversight across multiple retail locations. Ensure consistent execution of established SOPs, systems, and operational processes. Drive store-level selling performance, productivity, and accountability. Establish clear expectations for store leadership and ensure consistent follow-through. Monitor retail performance and identify opportunities to improve sales, customer experience, and operational efficiency. Partner closely with store leaders to address performance gaps and implement solutions. Collaborate with the Marketing team to support retail initiatives, promotions, and customer engagement efforts. Maintain a strong focus on customer experience and ensure teams consistently deliver against company standards. Serve as a visible, hands-on leader who understands the realities of day-to-day retail operations. Ideal Candidate Proven experience leading multi-unit retail operations, preferably within cannabis, specialty retail, consumer goods, or a similarly regulated environment. Strong operational leadership and execution skills. Demonstrated ability to drive sales performance and hold teams accountable to measurable goals. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple locations and priorities. A hands-on leadership style with the ability to coach, influence, and develop retail teams. Strong understanding of customer experience and its impact on store performance. Collaborative approach and experience partnering cross-functionally with Marketing and other corporate teams. Passion for retail, operational excellence, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.
