Phlebotomist I Duration: 02 Months Work Schedule: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM (Monday-Friday ) Work Location: CaroMont Family Medicine - Shelby Address: 520 N Dekalb St, Shelby, NC Training / Orientation First Week: Training and orientation at 5901 Northwoods Business Parkway, Charlotte, NC. Second Week Onward: Training/work will be conducted at the onsite location in Shelby, NC. Interview Process Initial interview will be conducted via phone or video . Selected candidates will be invited for a mock draw/skills assessment . Job Summary The Phlebotomist I is responsible for performing blood draws and other specimen collections while ensuring accurate specimen identification, processing, storage, and transportation. The role also assists with troubleshooting, workflow recommendations, and maintaining compliance with laboratory and safety procedures. Position Responsibilities Perform blood draws/venipunctures using straight needles and butterfly needles . Collect and process various specimens, including blood, urine, and fecal specimens, as required. Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process to patients. Review and understand physicians' orders and laboratory test requirements. Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes and containers. Verify test requisitions and computer-generated labels against physician orders/scripts to ensure accuracy. Accurately label all specimens according to established procedures. Centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by specific test orders. Collect and store specimens according to established laboratory procedures. Store specimens at the required temperature and in the appropriate collection containers or tubes. Follow specific specimen handling and transportation protocols to maintain specimen integrity. Package specimens appropriately for transportation to the laboratory. Record equipment maintenance and decontamination information as required. Update and maintain accurate patient information. Assist with troubleshooting and make workflow improvement recommendations when appropriate. Answer telephone calls and respond to laboratory-related inquiries. Provide laboratory results to authorized individuals in accordance with applicable procedures. Follow OSHA, DEP, and laboratory safety regulations . Attend required departmental and annual training sessions. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Perform other assigned phlebotomy and laboratory support duties as needed. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Valid Phlebotomy Certification for the state of employment, where required. 0-2 years of relevant experience . Minimum of 6 months of hands-on venipuncture experience in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting preferred/required as applicable. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite . Demonstrated knowledge of blood collection and specimen handling procedures. Ability to accurately follow physicians' orders, laboratory protocols, and specimen handling requirements. Strong communication and patient-service skills. Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced healthcare environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
