1st Class Aluminum Shipfitter

Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated Aluminum Shipfitter with preferably at least 5 years of marine or 4 years of continuous Company experience. The candidate will lay out and fabricate metal structural parts and brace them in position within hull of vessel for welding. Requirements Minimum of 5 years of marine or 4 years of continuous Company experience preferred Must be able to perform shaping/cutting material with power tools such as skill saw, jig saw, metabo grinders and etc. Must be able to work in confined/enclosed spaces Must be able to work/climb in elevations greater than 5’ Must be able to wear/work a respirator when applicable Skills Can comprehend blueprints, sketches, and templates Able to enter and move through manholes to reach and work in internally confined spaces Accurate in performing the following processes layout cutting measuring and fitting Responsibilities Determine the position of structural components working from blueprints or templates Provide direction to subordinate ship fitters and tack welders Use blueprints to lay out position of parts on metal Locate and mark reference lines, such as center, buttock, and frame lines Position parts in hull of vessel and align parts in relation to each other Mark location of holes to be drilled and install temporary fasteners to hold part in place for welding or riveting Install packing, gaskets, liners, and structural accessories and members Tack weld clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding Bend, flange, cut, and shape plates, beams, and other heavy metal parts Why Bollinger?
