Pay scale: Pay is based off education, experience, and certification level. Plus, shift differential for nights and weekends. Levels are; Para professional: $19.71/hr Peer support: $20.67/hr. AP: $22.60/hr. Associate level QP: $24.04-$25.48/hr. Bachelor's level QP: $25.48-$26.43/hr.

Shift: Days 8am-8pm

Summary: Under indirect supervision, provides, oversees, and/or administers a wide range of psychosocial evaluation/assessment, diagnostic, crisis intervention services in a high-intensity clinical environment which requires a high degree of independent decision-making. Most aspects of this job require clinical assessment and evaluation skills to consumers that report in crisis to a variety of community settings including magistrate's office, community sites, and DAYMARK Service Areas in crisis. Case management/supportive services for disposition of cases is also a core function of this job.

  • Provides psychoeducation as indicated in the PCP
  • Assists with crisis interventions
  • Assists the team leader with behavioral and substance use disorder interventions
  • Assists with the development of relapse prevention and disease management strategies
  • Participates in the initial development, implementation, and ongoing revision of the PCP
  • Communicates the beneficiary's progress and the effectiveness of the strategies and interventions to the team leader as outlined in the PCP

Essential duties and responsibilities:

This person is an integral member of an array of services. The responsibilities of the Para professional include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Consumer education/advocacy
  • Self help
  • Pre-crisis support
  • Housing
  • Education/employment
  • Developing and implementing a mental health wellness recovery action plan (WRAP)
  • Units billed minimum requirement: The direct service guideline is 75% of time spent in specific billable contacts per week in the community. (120 units a week)

Qualification requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Education/experience:

Must fall under one of the two tech levels below AND be able to demonstrate 1 year of experience providing crisis care in assertive outreach, assertive community treatment, emergency departments, inpatient units, or other services providing comprehensive emergency/crisis services.

  • Tech 1:
    • Para professional services are delivered by staff who have the life experience of being diagnosed with a serious mental illness or substance addiction problem, and are currently in recovery, stable, and living without relapses. The Paraprofessional has a high school diploma, or GED and at least five years of life experience with a serious mental illness or substance addiction.
    • Peer support - requires peer support certification.
    • AP - requires a bachelor's degree in social work, counseling or another human services field with no experience.
  • Tech 2:
    • QP - requires an associate or bachelor's degree in social work, counseling or another human services field. Qualified professional (QP) required.
