We are an established, family-owned B2B distributor of janitorial/sanitation (jan/san) and MRO supplies, serving businesses for decades.

We’re looking for a hands-on Controller to lead our accounting operations, provide reliable financial reporting, and help ownership make informed business decisions. This role offers direct access to leadership and the opportunity to improve how a growing company manages its finances.

Our experienced part-time Controller will support the transition and transfer of company knowledge.

What You’ll Do

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Own the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements.
• Prepare management reporting that explains business performance and highlights opportunities for improvement.
• Oversee cash management, cash-flow forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning.
• Strengthen inventory accounting and reporting on product margins, customer profitability, and operating expenses.
• Oversee commission accounting and help resolve sales-related financial questions.
• Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and documentation.
• Coordinate with outside accountants on tax preparation, year-end reporting, and other accounting matters.
• Help lead the accounting and financial aspects of our upcoming ERP system transition.
• Use Excel, automation, and AI tools to reduce manual work and improve accuracy.
• Lead and develop accounting staff while remaining actively involved in the work.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
• Progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for financial statements, month-end close, and accounting operations.
• Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager with the ability to take ownership of the function.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, budgeting, and cash-flow management.
• Experience with distribution, manufacturing, or inventory accounting preferred.
• Strong Excel and ERP skills; Microsoft Dynamics NAV or Business Central experience is a plus.
• A practical, detail-oriented leader who follows through, communicates clearly, and works well with ownership and department managers.
• An interest in technology and a willingness to improve established processes.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary of $140,000–$180,000, based on experience.
