MUSC Charleston’s Inpatient Float Team is hiring Patient Care Technicians to support units across the downtown campus. Spanning 10 specialized zones and serving both Adult and Pediatric populations, the team offers Patient Care Technicians flexible scheduling, shift differentials and additional float differential pay. Scheduled Work Hours/Shift:

The following shift options are available, to include weekends and holidays as needed:

• (36 hours/week): 3x12-hour shifts per week
  
• (60 hours/pay period): 2x12-hour shifts/week one and 3x12-hour shifts/week two
  
• (24 hours/week): 2x12-hour shifts per week
  

Job Summary/Purpose :The Patient Care Technician reports to the Nurse Manager. Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.

Minimum Training and Education:

Patient Care Technician I: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Patient Care Technician II: High School Diploma/Equivalent and ONE of the following requirements must be met.

• Associate or Bachelor's degree
  
• 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility
  
• At least 1 year of PCT I (.6 FTE +) experience at MUSC
  
• Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution
  
• Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution
  
• Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution
  

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance.
