English Language Development (ELD) Teacher - K-8 (26-27)

Position Summary At KIPP Public Schools Northern California, the ELD teacher will provide intensive English Language support for all multilingual learners and offer reading intervention. The teacher reports to the School Leader and facilitates language instruction using research‑based, standards‑aligned curriculum. Model KIPP values Be committed to being an anti‑racist educator Believe all students can achieve at the highest academic levels Possess strong content area knowledge and skills building relationships with students, families, and communities Teach in our extended day and year schedule Contribute to a relentless and dedicated team of outstanding professionals Communicate well with students, families, and colleagues Have proficient knowledge of Google Suite applications Have the ability to learn and utilize instructional technology to support in‑class and distance learning Hold a B.A./B.S. degree from a regionally accredited institution Hold a valid teaching credential or be in the process of securing one Qualifications Hold a B.A./B.S. degree from a regionally accredited institution Meet one of the following eligibility requirements: Hold a valid teaching credential in the desired subject, or Eligibility for a Provisional Internship Permit, or Eligibility for a Short Term Staff Permit (CPR certification by American Heart Association or American Red Cross is a prerequisite for this permit) Experience as an educator teaching Black and Brown students for one or more years (preferred) Spanish speaking (preferred) Essential Functions and Responsibilities Lead an academically rigorous classroom through activities such as developing lesson plans for English language arts and English language development Teach curricula aligned to ELD standards and Common Core ELA standards Support and coach teachers on how to integrate ELD into their core content areas Assess and analyze students’ performance and progress to ensure mastery of developmental skills and respond to data to support academic success Build relationships with students, staff, and families by maintaining open communication, fostering a positive campus culture, balancing warm and demanding communication, and establishing standards of student behavior for a productive learning environment Physical, Mental and Environmental Demands Physical: Ability to navigate school and classroom settings, access and utilize technology, occasionally lift 1–20 lbs, and perform movements such as kneeling, walking, pushing/pulling, squatting, twisting, turning, bending, stooping and reaching overhead. Mental: Manage deadlines, analyze problems, generate alternatives, work with interruptions, concentrate for long periods, read, calculate, perform routine math, and memorize and recall information. Environmental: School and classroom environment subject to constant interruptions and distractions; adhere to KIPP’s health and safety guidelines as outlined by the CDC, CDE, and public health agencies. Classification This is a full‑time, exempt position on a school year calendar cycle, located at our school sites.
