Polysomnographer

The Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Polysomnographer / Sleep Technician is responsible for conducting sleep studies and related diagnostic procedures in a short-term acute care setting. The role involves working with patients to monitor and record sleep patterns, ensuring accurate data collection for diagnosis and treatment. This position requires a valid license or certification in polysomnography and strong adherence to regulatory and facility protocols. The technician must collaborate effectively with healthcare teams and manage patient care during overnight and weekend shifts. Responsibilities:

• Perform polysomnographic studies and other neurodiagnostic tests according to established protocols.
• Prepare patients for sleep studies, including explaining procedures and attaching monitoring equipment.
• Monitor and record patient sleep data accurately throughout the study.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support patient care and diagnostic accuracy.
• Maintain and calibrate diagnostic equipment and troubleshoot technical issues as needed.
• Document study results and patient information in the electronic medical record system.
• Participate in non-billable orientation and training as required.

• Current valid Polysomnography license or certification in hand.
• Knowledge of sleep study procedures and neurodiagnostic techniques.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction and team collaboration.
• Compliance with Oregon state licensing requirements, including fingerprinting and Laws and Rules Exam completion.

• Experience in short-term acute care or similar healthcare settings.
• Familiarity with Epic electronic medical records system.
• Additional certifications related to respiratory or neurodiagnostic fields.

• No on-call requirements.
• Weekend work is mandatory, including Friday night shifts extending into Saturday morning.
• Block scheduling is required with expected staff ratios of 2:1.
• Orientation includes a reduced non-billable period with zero hours standard orientation versus typical 40 hours.
• Must comply with Oregon state licensing process timelines, including fingerprinting and exam scheduling.

• Work schedule includes block shifts with weekend coverage.
• Friday night shifts extend into early Saturday morning, requiring overnight availability.
• Shift assignments are determined based on hospital staffing needs and block scheduling policies.
